Sea Island is home to the world-renowned Sea Island Beach Club and The Cloister, made famous by the G8 summit organized by President George W. Bush in June, 2004. Sea Island was selected for the summit in part because its relative isolation facilitated the extensive security arrangements necessary for such a gathering, but equally as much for its fabulous accommodations and splendid setting among the Live Oaks and gentle sea breeze.
The Cloister
The oceanfront Beach Club contains restaurants, a game room, an ice cream shop, a bar, and three pools. Sea Island's main hotel, The Cloister, is located on its southwestern side along the Black Banks River. It includes restaurants, 200 rooms, a spa, tennis and squash courts, an exercise facility, and is home to the only Forbes Five Star restaurant in the state of Georgia, The Georgian Room. The Cloister's dining options also include Tavola, an authentic Italian eatery; River Bar, offering casual dishes with views of the Black Banks River; and Southern Tide, located at the Beach Club, serving fresh local Georgia seafood with amazing views overlooking the Atlantic ocean. The Cloister at Sea Island is the only resort in the world to have received four Forbes Five-Star awards for eleven consecutive years as of this writing.
The Lodge at Sea Island
The Lodge at Sea Island was recently enhanced with six new cottages, an oceanfront pool, 18-hole putting course, and a 17,000 sf Golf Performance Center. Guest accommodations at The Lodge include 58 guest rooms, seven golf cottages and 24-hour butler service. Dining options at The Lodge include Colt & Alison, known for fabulous steaks and dry aged beef, with panoramic golf course views; The Oak Room, featuring Southern classics and tasty signature entrées; and The Men's Locker Room, offering casual lunches, full bar and a cigar room.
The Cottages at Sea Island
The Cottages at Sea Island offer a luxurious option with all the amenities and privacy of a personal residence, as well as full access to resort golf, dining, spa, tennis and other accoutrements at The Cloister and The Lodge. All cottages are well-appointed with full kitchens, washer and dryer, fresh linens and towels, and concierge assistance.
Sea Island is home to 3 golf courses, including Seaside, Plantation and Retreat. Sea Island has earned a rich history with the game of golf, with various PGA tournaments having been held here, including the annual RSM Classic, a PGA FedEx Cup event hosted by local Davis Love III, recent inductee into the PGA of America Hall of Fame.

Retreat Golf Course
Redesigned in 2001 by Davis Love III and his brother Mark, Retreat offers a very playable layout of 18 holes set among the pine trees, flat terrain and gentle sea breezes.

A 17,000 square-foot facility that offers state-of-the-art technology in golf instruction and tools to help improve your game. Renowned golf instructors provide personalized golf lessons and training for all skill levels. Amenities include hitting bays, club fitting, putting studio, fitness center, club workshop, meeting and event space, practice greens, and pro shop.
